Attracting more Foreign Productions in Quebec
Publié le January 31, 2023
Our President, Christian Lemay, and the CEO of the Quebec Film and Television Council, Christine Maestracci, sat down with Brendan Kelly from the Montreal Gazette to discuss why U.S. filming in Quebec has gone down and how the Quebec government can aid the industry in these challenging times.
There are many reasons for this decline, such as more competitive tax credits in other jurisdictions, as well as concerns regarding Bill 96 from foreign producers. Shortly after the bill's adoption, several local organizations met with U.S. studio executives to clarify misconceptions and promote Quebec as a filming location. That being said, our government must also do its part to create better conditions in order to attract more foreign productions.
