CLASS 4 DRIVER'S LICENCE
A Class 4 professional license is required for all technicians in the department. This is an internal departmental rule. However, having a Class 4B licence doesn't necessarily mean you have to be a specialized driver. A specialized driver is a driver who is primarily responsible for driving a vehicle subject to the Act respecting owners, operators and drivers of heavy vehicles (Bill 430) for most of their working time. Similarly, if a technician recognized as a specialized driver mainly drives a vehicle not subject to the Act, they can have a driver's contract (non-specialized).
