Property Department
This page describes the criteria for recognition in the Property department.
To become a member of any department, you have to:
- Be a member in good standing (have paid the membership dues)
- Have completed the Introduction to the Union session
In effect since October 26, 2022.

RECOMMANDED training for all PROPerty department members
If, as part of your duties, you are required to drive a heavy vehicle, you must first have taken the OODHV Act – Drivers Section training course, intended for drivers of heavy vehicles (i.e., a vehicle weighing more than 4500 kg, commonly called a "cube"). This training is not tied to a department or function, but rather to the performance of a specific task.
If, as part of your duties, you are required to drive machinery (aerial work platform, platform, forklift, telescopic handler, etc.) you must hold the corresponding competency card.
This also applies to people supervising technicians who have to drive heavy vehicles or machines (aerial work platform, forklift, telescopic handler, etc.).
Have accumulated 200 days of work in the function under Union contract on at least 4 different productions
Be recognized as a Key Props On Set or a Key Props Off Set
Have taken the Managing a Team training
Have worked on at least fifteen (15) productions including a minimum of five (5) productions with a budget of twenty (20) million dollars or more as a prop master, on set experience required
Provide 3 letters of recommendation from a Property Mistress/Master, a Visual Conceptor or a Supervising Art Director
Have accumulated 200 days of work in the function under Union contract on at least 4 different productions
Be recognized as a Props
Have taken the Managing a Team training
Provide 3 letters of recommendation from a Property Mistress/Master, a Visual Conceptor, a Supervising Art Director or a Director (Non-drama Television production only)
Have accumulated 150 days of work in the function under Union contract on at least 4 different productions
Be recognized as an Assistant Props
Provide 3 letters of recommendation from a Property Mistress/Master, a Visual Conceptor, a Supervising Art Director, a Key Props on set (recognize as a Key Props from at least 5 years) or a Director (Non-drama Television production only)
Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Assistant Set Propsman under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Set
Have accumulated 200 days of work in the function under Union contract on at least 4 different productions
Be recognized as a Props On Set
Have taken the Managing a Team training
Provide 3 letters of recommendation from a Property Mistress/Master, a Visual Conceptor, a Supervising Art Director
Have accumulated 150 days of work in the function under Union contract on at least 4 different productions
Be recognized as an Assistant Props
Provide 3 letters of recommendation from a Property Mistress/Master, a Visual Conceptor, a Supervising Art Director, a Key Props on set (recognize as a Key Props from at least 5 years) or a Director (Non-drama Television production only)
Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Assistant Set Propsman under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Offset
Have accumulated 200 days of work in the function under Union contract on at least 4 different productions
Be recognized as a Props Off Set
Have taken the Managing a Team training
Provide 3 letters of recommendation from a Property Mistress/Master, a Visual Conceptor, a Supervising Art Director or a Director (Non-drama Television production only)
Have accumulated 150 days of work in the function under Union contract on at least 4 different productions
Be recognized as an Assistant Props
Provide 3 letters of recommendation from a Property Mistress/Master, a Visual Conceptor, a Supervising Art Director, a Key Props on set (recognize as a Key Props from at least 5 years) or a Director (Non-drama Television production only)
Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Assistant Props Off Set under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Workshop
Have accumulated 150 days of work in the function under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Be recognized as a Props Maker
Have taken the Managing a Team training
Have accumulated 120 days of work in the function under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Conception
Have accumulated 150 days of work in the function under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Be recognized as a Props Maker

Department hierarchy
Un maximum de 40 % de crédits peut être transféré du plateau au hors-plateau ou du hors-plateau au plateau.
Les crédits peuvent être transférés d’un poste hiérarchiquement supérieur à un poste hiérarchiquement inférieur.
