Decoration Department

This page describes the criteria for recognition in the Decoration department. 

To become a member of any department, you have to:

MANDATORY TRAINING FOR ALL DEPARTMENT MEMBERS

 

RECOMMENDED TRAINING

NOTE: If you are required to operate a heavy vehicle as part of your duties, you must have taken the OODHV Act – Drivers Section training course. This training is not associated with a department or position, but with the execution of a specific task.

Assistant Art Director

Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Assistant Art Director under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Key Graphic Artist
  • Have taken the Managing a Team course
  • Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Key Graphic Artist under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Graphic Artist

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Graphic Artist under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Multimedia Technician

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Multimedia Technician under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Key Model Maker

  • 90 days of work experience on at least two different productions

Model Maker

90 days of work experience on at least two different productions

Key Property Manager
  • Have taken the Managing a Team course
  • Have accumulated 120 days of work as a Key Property Manager under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Property Manager

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Property Manager under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Key Set Decorator
  • 200 days of work experience on at least four different productions
  • Be recognized as a Set Decorator

Have taken the following training courses:

  • Managing a Team
  • Reading Technical Drawings (LinkedIn Learning to be determined)

Submit at least 3 letters of recommendation from a visual designer, art director, key set decorator and/or director

Knowledge of the software required for the job (Word and Excel)

For US shoots, a minimum knowledge of spoken and written English is required

Set Decorator
  • 150 days of work experience on at least four different productions
  • Be recognized as an Assistant Set Decorator

Have taken the following training courses:

  • Managing a Team
  • Reading Technical Drawings (LinkedIn Learning to be determined)

Submit at least 3 letters of recommendation from a visual designer, art director, key set decorator and/or director

Knowledge of the software required for the job (Word and Excel)

For US shoots, a minimum knowledge of spoken and written English is required

On Set Decorator

Have accumulated 90 days of work as an On Set Dresser under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Assistant Set Decorator
  • 90 days of work experience on at least three different productions
  • Have taken the following training courses:

Reading Technical Drawings (LinkedIn Learning to be determined)

Submit at least 2 letters of recommendation from a visual designer, art director, key set decorator and/or set decorator

Class 5 driver’s licence

For US shoots, a minimum knowledge of spoken and written English is required

Art Department Coordinator

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Art Department Coordinator under Union contract on at least 2 different productions.

Please note that AQTIS 514 IATSE only represents members who are working in advertising.

Assistant Art Department Coordinator

Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Assistant Department Coordinator under Union contract on at least 2 different productions.

Food Stylist

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Food Stylist under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Art Department Assistant

Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Art Department Assistant under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Vehicle Coordinator

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Vehicle Coordinator under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Assistant Vehicle Coordinator

Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Assistant Vehicle Coordinator under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

Decoration Leadperson
  • 150 days of work experience on at least three different productions
  • Be recognized as a Set Dresser

Have taken the following training courses:

Submit at least 3 letters of recommendation from a visual designer, art director, key set decorator and/or set decorator

Class 5 driver’s licence

For US shoots, a minimum knowledge of spoken and written English is required

Set Dresser
  • 120 days of work experience on at least three different productions

Have taken the following training courses:

Submit at least 2 letters of recommendation from a visual designer, art director, key set decorator, set decorator, leadperson and/or prop master

Class 5 driver’s licence

For US shoots, a minimum knowledge of spoken and written English is required

On Set Dresser
  • 150 days of work experience on at least three different productions
  • Be recognized as an Assistant On Set Dresser

Have taken the following training courses:

Class 5 driver’s licence

Submit at least 3 letters of recommendation from a visual designer, art director, key set decorator, set decorator, leadperson, prop master and/or first assistant director

For US shoots, a minimum knowledge of spoken and written English is required

Assistant On Set Decorator
  • 90 days of work experience on at least two different productions
  • Be recognized as a Set Dresser

Submit at least 2 letters of recommendation from a visual designer, art director, key set decorator, set decorator, leadperson and/or prop master
