Decoration Department
This page describes the criteria for recognition in the Decoration department.
To become a member of any department, you have to:
- Be a member in good standing (have paid the membership dues)
- Have completed the Introduction to the union session

RECOMMENDED TRAINING
NOTE: If you are required to operate a heavy vehicle as part of your duties, you must have taken the OODHV Act – Drivers Section training course. This training is not associated with a department or position, but with the execution of a specific task.
Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Assistant Art Director under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
- Have taken the Managing a Team course
- Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Key Graphic Artist under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Graphic Artist under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Multimedia Technician under Union contract on at least 2 different productions

- Have taken the Managing a Team course
- Have accumulated 120 days of work as a Key Property Manager under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Property Manager under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
- 200 days of work experience on at least four different productions
- Be recognized as a Set Decorator
Have taken the following training courses:
- Managing a Team
- Reading Technical Drawings (LinkedIn Learning to be determined)
Submit at least 3 letters of recommendation from a visual designer, art director, key set decorator and/or director
Knowledge of the software required for the job (Word and Excel)
For US shoots, a minimum knowledge of spoken and written English is required
- 150 days of work experience on at least four different productions
- Be recognized as an Assistant Set Decorator
Have taken the following training courses:
- Managing a Team
- Reading Technical Drawings (LinkedIn Learning to be determined)
Submit at least 3 letters of recommendation from a visual designer, art director, key set decorator and/or director
Knowledge of the software required for the job (Word and Excel)
For US shoots, a minimum knowledge of spoken and written English is required
Have accumulated 90 days of work as an On Set Dresser under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
- 90 days of work experience on at least three different productions
- Have taken the following training courses:
Reading Technical Drawings (LinkedIn Learning to be determined)
Submit at least 2 letters of recommendation from a visual designer, art director, key set decorator and/or set decorator
Class 5 driver’s licence
For US shoots, a minimum knowledge of spoken and written English is required
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Art Department Coordinator under Union contract on at least 2 different productions.
Please note that AQTIS 514 IATSE only represents members who are working in advertising.

Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Food Stylist under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Art Department Assistant under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as a Vehicle Coordinator under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
Have accumulated 90 days of work as an Assistant Vehicle Coordinator under Union contract on at least 2 different productions
- 150 days of work experience on at least three different productions
- Be recognized as a Set Dresser

Credits can be transferred from a higher-level position to a lower-level position.
